wedding industry and diversity

There’s one big issue in the wedding industry: it mainly showcases cis, straight, white, able-bodied, conventionally-attractive couples.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s absolutely nothing bad about those couples! But when you only see ONE representation of reality and you don’t belong to it, you might feel left out and unvalued.

I believe that in the wedding industry we must ask ourselves how our actions impact the life of those around us. And yes, “love is love”, we’ve said that already. But do we really mean it or is it just a cool hashtag to use whenever we get to work with LGBTQ+ couples?

As a queer wedding photographer, I think it's still too hard to find photos and inspiration that aren’t just images of cis-het white couples. We need more diversity content so that all of us can relate to something. And it’s my job and my responsibility to give to all the traditionally unrepresented people a little space.

Everybody’s love story deserves to be seen.
